When choosing a countertop style for your kitchen, design is as important as function. The Kitchen Store, one of the top kitchen remodeling designers in the state, gives you an overview of the most popular color styles below.
Pure White Countertops
A white kitchen countertop would be a good choice if you want to keep your kitchen up to date or make it seem bigger than it is. Pure white countertops would be a great addition to any minimalist kitchen. To make sure your countertop remains pristinely white, we recommend choosing stain-and-spill-resistant materials.
As for color and texture combinations, blue creates a nice contrast when paired with white. Pairing white with wooden textures would work just as well. However, if you’re not careful with the design, pure white countertops can easily clash with or overshadow other kitchen elements, such as knotty woods, shaker cabinets, and lantern pendant lights. That’s why it would be a good idea to consult a kitchen remodeler.
Flecked or Softly Veined Countertops
If, however, you prefer a sophisticated yet traditional kitchen design, flecked or softly veined countertops would be a better choice. Flecked countertops aren’t as eye-catching as pure white countertops, but their subtlety helps make guests feel more at ease. That’s why quartz and grainy whites work well in dining rooms.
For texture and color combinations, we recommend pairing flecked quartz countertops with brass or gray accents.
Dark Countertops
White usually draws attention to itself. Darker shades, on the other hand, blends into the background to highlight less prominent features. As such, if you want subtle kitchen elements to pop, dark countertops would be a good choice.
Most homeowners choose dark gray or charcoal to create a softer look for their kitchen. Similar to pure white, however, pure black might clash with too many elements. Remember, one mismatched element is all it takes to ruin your entire interior’s aesthetic.
