A Quick Guide on Kitchen Cabinet Construction Types

It isn’t uncommon for kitchens to get filled with several things since it’s often the busiest part of a house. You need sufficient storage in your space to minimize clutter and make cleaning easier. With the right type of cabinetry, you can effortlessly organize your cooking essentials and transform the look of your kitchen.

A local kitchen remodeling expert shares different types of cabinet construction to consider for the heart of your home.

Framed Cabinets

Many American homes have framed kitchen cabinets. Traditionally, cabinet boxes were built with a face frame consisting of a stile and rail that is at least an inch wide. Framed cabinets come with a wooden frame that outlines the cabinet doors, hence the name. There are three variations of this construction, which are partial overlay, full overlay and inset.

Frameless Cabinets

European-style or frameless cabinets feature five sides and don’t have a face frame. These cabinets provide users with complete access and increased storage. Due to their lack of a face frame, drawer boxes can be made wider and door openings remain unobstructed. You can pair them with sleek countertops to give your kitchen a contemporary touch.

Inset Cabinets

Inset cabinetry is technically a type of framed construction but offers a more distinct look. They come with doors and drawers that are inside the frame. You should consider inset cabinets if you prefer a traditional-looking kitchen.
