Designing an Easy-to-Clean Kitchen

Many households choose a traditional kitchen design because of its simplicity and convenience. But there may be times when work or school could hinder you from properly maintaining your kitchen. Instead of buying more cleaning supplies, all you have to do is make sure that your kitchen is specially designed for easy cleaning.

With that, The Kitchen Store is here to share useful tips on how you can achieve your very own easy-to-clean kitchen.

More Practical Style

Fancy designs may seem interesting at first glance, but they may be a hassle to maintain. As such, you might want to consider a more practical style that is easily manageable. One good example of this is choosing a better backsplash. While painted or wallpapered backsplashes are beautiful, they are also very hard to clean. Stainless steel or tile backsplashes are good choices, especially since they are prone to greasy substances.

A good work triangle is also important. This work triangle pertains to the arrangement of your cooktop, sink, and refrigerator. They should be close together to minimize the distance you have to carry things. A kitchen island could be a great choice to improve a poor work triangle. Additionally, trash bins should be under the sink for efficient clean-up.

Better Cabinet Choices

Many people are choosing not to have upper cabinets as it gives a tidier look to their kitchen. However, this may be a huge problem. Cabinets are very useful storage spaces for your kitchenware and should be properly taken care of.

A flat-front cabinet is the best choice to make as it is the easiest to clean. A painted cabinet might show dirt, but it’s easy to wipe down, while a stained cabinet, though easily marred, doesn’t show dirt as much. Also, an open shelf may add beauty to your kitchen, but it can be hard to maintain as it attracts dust and grime. A wall cabinet could be a good replacement for that. For more traditional cabinet designs, you can consult with a professional kitchen contractor.

Easy-Clean Appliances

For your easy-clean kitchen, it’s also suggested to have convenient appliances. Before buying any, make sure that they are easy to maintain and fuss-free. Take note that your stove is easy to wipe and won’t need any special solutions to keep it clean. As for the knobs on your oven, there must be no hard-to-reach nooks as this may be difficult to clean.
