Maintaining the Shine on Your Quartz Counters

Any kitchen remodeling expert would agree that quartz is a good material for kitchen countertops. There’s a lot of advantages to benefit from the engineered stones, and it can even be manufactured to resemble Carrara marble or Brazilian granite. Bulk ordering quartz to fit several floor plan designs makes it a more affordable choice compared to other materials. It’s also quite durable, so it won’t easily degrade over time. But you still need to keep it shiny to bring out the best of its beauty. Here’s how you can do it.

Don’t Use Strong Cleaning Products

For quartz countertops, certain household cleaners aren’t exactly ideal, because they may damage the surface. For example, some chemicals found in bathroom cleaners can stick to quartz countertops, which can interfere with the light reflection, almost in the same manner as when glass is cleaned with dish soap. Instead, use a milder liquid detergent mixed with plain water.

Clean Your Quartz Countertop Regularly

You need to clean your quartz almost daily to keep it shiny. To do this, just fill a spray bottle with plain water, then add a bit of mild liquid detergent on the countertop. Spray water on the surface to dilute the soap, then use a soft cloth to wipe down the counter. It helps to start at one end of the countertop and move to the other, spraying and wiping a few feet at a time. However, there will be times when your quartz countertop may need a more thorough cleaning, especially for stains that are hard to remove. If this is the case, don’t hesitate to call our team at The Kitchen Store. Our kitchen remodeling services also include deep cleaning and disinfection so your countertop will look as good as new.

Polish Your Countertops Properly

The shiny finish of quartz slabs can be augmented with polishing and buffing. Remember to only use a microfiber cloth or a paper towel when you’re wiping down the countertop. You can also use a vinegar and water solution to polish the quartz surface. For a faster cleaning, you can easily put 25% vinegar and 75% water in a spray bottle. Spray and polish on your quartz countertop until it looks as shiny as you want it to.
